During the State Of the Nation’s Address (SONA) issued on Monday, 2nd May, 2022 at the Ringway campus of the Ghana Institute of Journalism with regards to the introduction of upright policies set to deliver citizens from stagnation, the flagbearer of the LDP; Job Kwabena Laboja, gave hope to Ghanaians.
In line with his genuine perspectives towards bad governance of the current government, Laboja craved the indulgence of each citizen to assist in actualizing these policies to drive out the poor concepts and make room for refined standards that gives hope to the citizens of Ghana for the creation of a better Ghana.
He stated that; it is of his interest that the interest of citizens will be taken into consideration and not overlooked.
“We make up the country and the country cannot have peace when the citizens do not have peace”.
He added.
Honorable Job Kwabena Laboja in line with his address, made mention of how the ruling party, NPP has contributed to the saddened retrogression of the country, leading to the plights of multitudes.
He also touched on issues such as; hardship, bribery, corruption and injustice the government throws at citizens making citizens, constantly renounce the hope for a change in the economy.
He stated that,
“the ruling party in million ways, have sported with the heart and trust of citizens and preyed on their emotions into getting what they want which is power, loans, loans, and more loans as witnessed today from the international sources of funds”.
He gave potential examples of schemes buttressed with facts about the ruling party. He referred citizens to what ensued on the Agenda 111, initiated by the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, which was a project for the construction of district hospitals for a hundred and one districts in the county. He added that the government after 3 years, cannot boast of a single finished or an ongoing project as role play of the agenda 111 initiatives.
He emphasized on the issue of the E-levy, that it cannot be forgone when stating the NPP’s shortcomings.
“The government is not concerned about the livelihood of the people in the country because their objections are not taken into considerations”.
Hon. Laboja spoke about the rate of unemployment in Ghana and stated that the President in his Mayday speech attributed the existing inequalities and vulnerabilities of the economy which led to the massive job losses and labor disruption to the Covid-19 pandemic. He called on the President to take full responsibility.
With reference to what the President said about how no single worker from public sector lost his or her job since he assumed Office. Hon. Laboja said; “This is a palpable lie as toll collectors in some areas of the Tollbooth structures, in the country recently lost their jobs due to hasty decisions made by the Minister for Roads and Highways”. He included that promises made by the government for alternative livelihood for these individuals have since not been realized.
Hon. Laboja indicated that his heart aches for his people as they are in times of hardship caused by the bad leadership practices of the ruling party and his spirit weeps at the sight of corruption in the country. He said Ghanaians deserve a government that will have their interests at heart and treat them as their own because they are for the people.
“We Ghanaians deserve the Liberal Democratic Party!”
He added.
With other reference statements of the President many moons ago and other relating issues, Laboja ended by saying citizens must unite with the LDP to make sure they bring change that to ingrain positive impacts to the lives of Ghanaians. He was certain that his party’s manifesto has solutions to some of the problems he outlined in his address.
