The National Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Isaac Akpah, has called on the ruling government to respect the rights and freedoms of it citizens.
According to him, individual rights were not to be curtailed and forced keep mute and endure suffering and oppression.
In an interview on Radio GIJ’s Morning Dew show with Elsie Osariemen Agbontaen, Isaac Akpah made some comparisons with the arrest of #FixTheCountry convener Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor after his tweet on the coup and the sitting president’s statements to the head coach of the black stars which sounded incriminating.
“When Vormawor tweeted that if the e-levy was passed in Ghana he was going to stage a coup on his arrival in Ghana, the security agency arrested him on his arrival at the airport. However, after Ghana’s victory over Nigeria last Tuesday, there we some videos circulating on social media after the President of Ghana called the coach of the Ghanaian team and threatened to kidnap him, but the security agencies have been is quiet on the matter to date”.
He also stated that although, the L.D.P aims at ensuring freedom and equality for all citizens, the rights of citizens should not be infringed upon.
“In as much as there is freedom, we should also do well not to abuse the right of others because one Person’s freedom ends where another’s begins”, he added.
Isaac Akpah further explained the meaning of the flaming torch in the LDP party flag stating it stood for hope and enlightenment as envisioned by the LDP and revealed that plans were underway to elect a flag bearer for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
